Our Philosophy
Small Craft Turkiye
Preserving the Spirit of the Sea
Small Craft Turkiye is an organization dedicated to the research, preservation, and celebration of classic wooden
boats and traditional small crafts of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Founded by enthusiasts and maritime
artisans, the organization aims to safeguard the cultural and historical legacy of handcrafted boats — from humble
fishing vessels to elegant sailing classics such as the Tirhandil, Sakoleva, and Bratsera.
Our Mission
To revive, document, and promote the timeless craftsmanship of traditional wooden boatbuilding across Türkiye
and the Eastern Mediterranean. We connect historians, shipwrights, restorers, owners, and collectors through a
shared passion for the artistry of classic marine design.
What We Do
Research & Documentation: Conducting historical and technical studies on traditional small craft, from regional
shipbuilding methods to design evolution and preservation techniques.
Registry & Network: Creating a digital and physical registry of classic wooden boats — sailboats, runabouts, and
traditional craft — available for restoration, exhibition, or acquisition.
Promotion & Awareness: Organizing exhibitions, symposiums, and cultural events that celebrate maritime
heritage and raise awareness about sustainable wooden craftsmanship.
Collaboration & Education: Partnering with craftsmen, marinas, museums, and academic institutions to promote
training, restoration projects, and apprenticeships in traditional boatbuilding.
